ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING PROJECT

EVENT EXECUTION

The project implementation lasted 5 days. The first 4 days witnessed intense training in 3 vocational skills alongside entrepreneurship education/ Financial Literacy . It took about 5-6 hours every day with breaks in between to relax and rejuvenate.

We had 6 mentors (2 each for the vocational skills) and a representative for the entrepreneurship education / Financial Literacy lecture . The mentors include Kimberly Abisola, Opeyemi Adeyele, Sulaimon Kehinde, Esther Aremu, Aishat Raji, and Christiana Ayoola.On the 4th day, we had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Ajibade AKA Bade Smart,a film director, content creator and master of ceremony who is proudly a product of the alternative care system of SOS Children’s Village. Using his true  life story, he encouraged the participants to stay focused in making their lives an impactful one.

OUTCOMES - IMPACT ON PARTICIPANTS:

1. ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING PROJECT  

offered a great opportunity for participants to learn new productive and marketable skills which included Adire making, household items and pastries.

2. Many of the participants reported their interest to continue to practice the skills learned during the 5-day session

3. Some participants were discovered to have innate artistic skills which could flourish with further exposure to arts programs, projects and activities

4. The entire 5-day session inspired confidence in the participants thus thereby mitigating dependence on social vices through music/dance

CONCLUSION:

We restate that the maiden edition of ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION & VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING PROJECT is a successful project by all standards. We deeply appreciate the management and staffs of SOS Children’s Village, Isolo, Lagos for facilitating this project, and for nurturing and grooming the children right. We must commend SOS on the great job on the children as they were so lovable, respectful and well-mannered

On the final day, we held the Grand Finale and Presentation Ceremony. 

This was a well-attended event attracting SOS Children’s Village officials, parents/guardians of the participants and popular musician, TeeMac Iseli.
